I had the privilege of meeting Layne Beachley last week - what an amazing and humble person she is!! Recently I have been learning about her Aim for the Stars Foundation. This Foundation is all about empowering and enabling individuals to take control of their lives, to invest in their future and fulfil their potential. The Foundation supports girls and women with initiative and passion, that are committed to achieving a dream and courageous enough to ask for help along the way. Layne's background and upbringing is very inspiring. She lost both her adopted mother and step mother along her journey. I am truly inspired by her strength and what she has achieved. The Dinner Party
I just read an article about two amazing women who've started an organisation called The Dinner Party, who brings 20 and 30 something adults who have experienced a significant loss together for potluck dinners to speak openly and honestly about their experiences. Read more about this great initiative here http://thedinnerparty.org/

Sheryl Sandberg
Sheryl Sanberg, Facebook's chief operating officer has written a very emotional post about the loss of her husband and her grieving process. To be honest her words really hit home with me! What an amazing lady and a wonderful and honest piece of writing. Click through to her emotional post in The Guardian
http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jun/03/sheryl-sandberg-facebook-death-david-goldberg. For anyone who has lost someone close to them, the words, the emotions and the way Sheryl describes her feelings in this post will probably make you cry - it did me!

Without My Mum
I came across Leigh Van Der Horst and her new book "Without My Mum" on Instagram (don't you love social media). What an inspirational lady to write such an emotional but wonderful book. "Without My Mum" reveals the sisterhood amongst motherless mothers. It features stories from mothers around the world. The book offers reassurance that no motherless mother is alone. Thank you Leigh for writing this book - you are an inspiration!!

Occupy Mother's Day
This article made me giggle and gave me a little extra strength to get through Mother's Day on Sunday. Thank you Kate Spencer and Modern Loss. http://modernloss.com/how-im-making-mothers-day-my-bitch/
Mother's Day
I hope you all survived mothers day this year!? Like so many, I had a few private tears in the morning, thinking about my mum, but then got up and embraced the day! My beautiful husband and children had made me gifts and took me into the city for pancakes - YUM !! I was thinking of all my "motherless daughter" friends on Sunday xx Here's an article that a friend sent me that helped me get through the day.
